CONCEPT OF 🍃 BEAUTY
Sometimes beauty is graceful endurance,
instead of moment's sparkle.
In these images the flowers are past their prime, the wood is decaying and the rocks are eroding. The colors are dominated by brown and gray tones in addition to subtle hints of pastel greens and reds.
What is beautiful? Can ugly be beautiful? These two adjectives can be found together in these photographs. What I am seeking here is beauty beyond the surface.

ABOUT ME
I AM A FINE ART & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN TURKU, FINLAND.
I dedicate a lot of time and effort in creating limited edition fine art prints. Initially I did it by traditional film process and now by using a digital workflow and inkjet printers.
Recently I started printing on aluminum and other rigid surfaces using large UV-printers. http://bit.ly/Seven-prints
These types of prints make the photograph feel alive connecting with the viewer and also with the space where they are displayed.

My passion for printing my own photographs started in the 1990s, a pivotal time in the evolution of printmaking, when the first color inkjet printers became available. However, during those early years, there was a significant drawback: the inks didn’t last and faded in just a few years. This all changed dramatically with the introduction of carbon-based pigment inks. These inks offered longevity that was previously unattainable.

How and why did I decide to become an artist?
It was an evolution for me. I always felt since my early childhood that I was an artist of some sort. I also felt that I have something to say, something that nobody else can say. However, I really started calling myself an artist and believing it around ten years ago. That is when I realized that I am exploring my feelings and emotions through my art. I also started to notice that other people were connecting with my art and that gave me extra motivation to do it professionally.

Inspired by the current events in Ukraine. This triple exposure was taken today behind Sibelius museum along the river in Turku, Finland. First two images are of the giant old oak tree and the third one is the stone retaining wall of the building. I combined these images in situ and accidentally noticed how the colors match the flag of Ukraine.

I was hired by the Finnish parliament to photograph the interiors of the newly renovated parliament building. The renovation was completed just in time for the opening of the autumn term of the Parliament in September of 2017. The meticulous and complete renovation and Finland's centennial gave me a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of this special year with my photography. #suomi-100
