The guiding idea behind this work is the theory of the Chilean biologist Humberto Maturana about autopoiesis, a network of functions in organism that produces parts of certain interacting biological systems; these networks or truss is also self-regulating. We also consider how the networks of biological systems in organisms are necessarily linked to the place where they are located - the local forest, the larger natural world, the Earth, space. Also as a poetic source we are inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke´s poems about trees.
In the visual script of the work micro and macro perspectives, - cells, bacteria, and, micro surfaces of the human body - such as hair, nails, wrinkles, are intermingled with natural forms such as the surfaces of tree trunks etc; on the larger scale, the large environment.- the local environment, the earth, the world.
The soundscape, made by Jane Sheldon transforms the sounds of life into mechanical sounds and, conversely, the mechanical sounds tend to imitate the sounds of life.
