CROSSING THE RIVER
A gallery of my photographs featuring the river Aura
TURKU
is a city on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River.*
ÅBO (IN SWEDISH)
as a town, was settled during the 13th century and founded most likely at the end of the 13th century,
making it the oldest city in Finland. *
I cross the river Aura over thousand times each year. Obviously, Turku was built into this particular place because of the river and the access it allowed. I enjoy the views that the bridges give me, as well as looking at the city from diffrent sides of the river. The flow of the river is also particularly interesting to follow. The seasons change, water turns to ice and especially during the autumn carries all kinds of interesting thigs on its stream.
THE CITY
quickly became the most important city in Finland, a status it retained for hundreds of years.
TÄL PUAL JOKKE
(“this side of the river”), while the western side is referred to as tois pual jokke (“the other side of the river”).

Photography has always been part of me since I was a teenager. I have always been printing my work, first by traditional film development and dark room process and now by using a digital workflow and a large variety of materials and printing methods.
My prints connect the viewer with the photograph in a subtle but effective way, creating a feeling that lasts.
Kirjastosilta (the Library Bridge) is the newest bridge over the river Aura.
