UNIVERSAL TRUTHS

"I was longing for moments that had passed,
and it was tearing me apart"

Seasons change, time fades away, years pass and we get older.
What is more universal about the human condition?
In this post I explore the expression of time in my photography.

TEARS OF WINTER - LES LARMES DE L’HIVER - TALVEN KYYNELEET
ARCHIPELAGO SEA, NAUVO, FINLAND - MARCH, 2010

FRAMED PRINT AVAILABLE

"I  skied on the frozen archipelago sea past this little patch of ice lurking under the snow. The vegetation and soil had colored the ice, and March sun was melting it and created tears in the snow, perfectly capturing my state of mind at the moment. I was longing for moments that had passed already, and it was tearing me apart"

FALLEN
The Aura River, Turku, Finland - October 2016

I took a stroll along the river as the evening was setting in. I peeked over the river bank and saw hundreds of fallen leaves floating by in various formations and colors. The leaves reminded me of people that I have encountered during my life, in various groups and in various settings, floating by me like the leaves of autumn.

ABOUT ME

I AM A FINE ART & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN TURKU, FINLAND.

Photography has always been part of me since I was a teenager. I have always been printing my work, first by traditional film development and dark room process and now by using a digital workflow and a large variety of materials and printing methods.

Recently I have started to print on large scale aluminum sheets in addition to paper and canvas. My prints connect the viewer with the photograph in a subtle but effective way, creating a feeling that lasts.
